pickled dragon
29 Jan 2004
· The mystery of the pickled dragon.
· Refrigerator coffins, wahoo. What I found most interesting was that little AIDS statistic the article mentions.
· The whole issue with RIAA vs. P2P has been alienating fans and musicians both, and now the artists are taking the matter into their own hands (and led by Peter Gabriel no less).

Seeing as McDonald’s seems to be a popular topic right now, here’s a documentary about what happens when you eat there 3 times a day, for a month. Scary and eye-opening. (link sent in by GothPussinBoots)
Oh, and in case y’all hadn’t noticed, the Doctor is back.

mcDo Pocket Pie
22 Jan 2004
I was at a local McDonald’s today and discovered that their marketing geeks had been playing catchup with Jollibee’s again. The clown-loving freaks have finally realized that their pie options needed sprucing up, although why they would choose to release a “Taro Pie” is really beyond me. I’m not a big fan of Jollibee’s Buco Pina pie, but I’d take that any day over this mush-in-a-box.
Remember how Wendy’s used to serve really tasty Apple Pie, and A&W’s used to have an ice cream waffle corner? Man, I miss those days.

Fun with Japs

As far as Japanese-oriented films go, Kill Bill was a lot of fun and Last Samurai sucked. Here’s an interesting page of common superstitions shared by our slanty-eyed friends (link sent in by nyx). And regarding Quentin’s 4th film, a commentary from the animation studio that created the anime (link sent in by unit).

Small potatoes and Pseudo-orgasms

▪ That’s gotta be the dumbest use of small potatoes I ever did see. (link sent in by toom)
▪ This female pseudo-orgasm device sounds like the commercial version of a science experiment we linked up last year. (link sent in by medora)

Slugs and Radio Hacking
12 Jan 2004
Slugs: in the mood for love. I believe the “structure” they were building toward the end was where they would place the results of their copulation. Disgusting and entrancing at the same time, kinda like highfiber.
Finally, a practical application for radio hacking.

iPod Luv
8 Jan 2004
Although I’m not a big Mac fan, I agree with pretty much everything that Steve Jobs says in terms of technology’s roles. In this short interview, he explains why he doesn’t believe there will ever be much of a market for handheld video players, something which ol’ Bill and the boys at Microsoft are hard at work at. Oh, and this brand-new line of iPods is making me seriously consider hopping on to the bandwagon.

US Presidents and the Wonders of the 1st Amendment

12 things you didn’t know about US Presidents. I like the trivia about Reagan (Ronald Reagan = the first David Hasselhoff?) (link sent in by nyx)
This trial could come down to a major issue of First Amendment free speech. God Bless America. (link sent in by toom)
