Octo-dogs, Pentrix and the wrath of Disney
11 Dec 2003
Turn a hotdog into an octopus with this fun device!
Some of you may already be familiar with the YoYo fad among the local kids. Will Pentrix be next?!
The preeminent entertainment company in the world, i.e., Disney, has been going through some major corporate upheavals over the past few weeks, including the resignation of Roy Disney himself. At this point, one other major player, Stan Gold, has resigned his position. Libido > Logic
10 Dec 2003
A really funny study I spotted over at New Scientist today, concerning the connection between libido and irrational thinking. The hypothesis of the little study was that men tended to think irrationally when in the presence of attractive women. (No shit, Sherlock — although it’s cute that they actually went and tried to prove it.)
I especially like one of the theories they posed to explain this temporary loss of logic, i.e., that “the prospect of getting a very attractive partner [ may encourage ] a man to take more risks than if an average partner was available.”

Vote for Pacquiao in HBO’s Boxer of the Year awards. Check out the really funny snapshot beside “Knockout of the Year.” Kinda reminds me of ol’ Glassjaw in Punchout.
Also, check out this interesting Steve Jobs interview about the iPod, the music revolution and why the record industry isn’t making a lot of money.

Sun Microsystems demos the operating system of the future, and it’s quite predictably based in 3D.
Microsoft has finally been forced to stop distributing a bunch of its older software, including Windows 98SE, Office 2000, Windows NT 4 and SQL Server 7, owing to a settlement with Sun Microsystems. The 3-year-old lawsuit came about when MS released the aforementioned apps with a version of Java that was incompatible with Sun’s, essentially locking them out of the market that uses those applications.
