Fuck This Country
8 Jan 2002I love the Philippines but every now and then I see something that reminds me of just how big a shithole it really is.I found out a couple of days ago that our military training program won’t be required of college students anymore. Instead, students can choose to take it. Jeezus H. Christ, what a bunch of morons we have running our government.
Let me backtrack :
We’ve had college military training for a long time, every since the Japanese caught us with our pants down in World War 2 (wherein the government had exactly 4 months to train every male older than 18 to defend the nation). From then on, it was decided that every male student should undergo military training for a given period of time.
Naturally, students hate this. Who the fuck wants to be shouted at every Sunday morning for two years right? So a couple of months ago, some students made a big ruckus about it, saying that the training was useless, the officers were just making money off of us, etc. And the government, like the stupid fucking pushovers that they are, just gave in.
Now don’t get me wrong here: I’m not saying that the training programs are great. They can be pretty tiresome actually. What I’m really pissed off about is that all it takes for the government to bend over and take it up its ass is a bunch of whiny students screaming, “Down with Military Training!”
You fucking dumbasses. If you have a problem with a program, you don’t get rid of it, you fucking fix it. And what is this shit where all you need to do is kick and scream and the government will obey?
This sort of shit happens in the Philippines on a regular basis. Another example : The toll fee for one of our largest provincial highways was due for an increase. There were signs that said so for about 6 months before they actually implemented it. When they finally did, all the drivers started whining like whipped bitches. “Why did you increase the toll fee? It’s too expensive!” And like willing hoes, the transportation office rolled the fee back.
Motherfucker! And don’t even get me started about that idiotic People’s Power shit last year. All it takes is a bandwagon protest which every Tom, Fuck and Harry will hop on, and you can get rid of the President. Christ, even the Armed Forces, whose duty it was to protect the presidency, jumped ship with no remorse. Why? Because they wanted to save their asses for the next round.
What is with this country where everybody thinks that they know better?
Listen, morons, “democracy” does not mean that every fucking one of you have a Voice. Can you imagine the utter chaos of every single asshole’s opinion being broadcast like gospel? Most of our populace does not even have the mental capacity to decide for themselves, much less decide correctly.
“Democracy”, fuckwits, means we elect people to represent us, who will be our Voice. But even a concept as simple as this gets fucked up here. In the Philippines our “representatives” are actors, basketball players and news anchors. People whose job it is to look good in front of the camera, and pat babies in strollers while signing mommy’s aureole with a felt tip pen.
This shit runs deep too. The Philippines is the only nation whose National Hero was not the leader of the armed forces that fought for our freedom. No, our national hero was another whiney bastard, who did nothing but bitch and complain about how the Spaniards were raping our whores and pimpslapping our children. So Mr. Whiny Bastard broadcast his whiney-ass attitude, and was eventually shot by the Spaniards. And so we made him a hero, when all he actually was was an idiot asking for an assfuck.
Fuck this country. I love it.

The Tapes of My Life
1 Jan 2002I was digging around in a forgotten corner of my room today when I came across a dusty old box with the words “Dont Touch” written across it in big marker-red letters. It was my old cassette collection, from before the dawn of time.I remember I was in the 6th grade when I started buying my own music. Naturally, I had no idea what I was doing since when you’re a kid, you have no real taste in anything.
This, of course, resulted in the most embarassing music you will Ever See, anywhere.
Check this shit out, my friends.
Nelson - After the Rain
The twin sons of veteran Willie Nelson show us how far having long blonde hair and horrible fashion sense can get you. Apparently, not that far.
Decent songs : Love & Affection, Only Time Will Tell.
What Possessed Me to Buy This Album : the long blonde hair, of course.Toto - Past to Present
Geriatric rock for people who think Survivor was too hardcore. These guys produced one of my favorite music videos of all-time, Africa, which featured the band playing on a stack of moldy library books.
Decent Songs : Hold the Line, Stop Loving You, Rosanna.
What Possessed Me to Buy This Album : I remember it was a choice between this album and Kenny G, so …Skid Row - Slave to the Grind
Just about the silliest modern rock album out there. Sebastian Bach actually gives the BeeGees a run for their money with all the high-notes he hits on this thing.
Decent Songs : In a Darkened Room, Wasted Time
What Possessed Me to Buy This Album : I thought the name was cool.Jon Secada - self-titled
(and this is the absolute kicker!)
The forerunner of hipster Ricky Martin, this guy was Da Shit for a very, very short period of time. What he lacked in looks he made up for in wet, open-chest shirts, wahoo.
Decent Songs : Just Another Day
What Possessed Me to Buy This Album : I honestly have no idea. There are lots more, but these should give you an idea why I’m staking claim for the title “World’s Most Embarassing Old Tape Collection.” I’d like to see anyone try to top this shit.
